Balancing the Prana Vayus - Pine Rivers Yoga - Brisbane, Australia

Balancing the Prana Vayus

Sat 7 Nov (10am-4pm) & Sun 8 Nov 2020 (9am-3pm)

There are five subtle energies, the Prana Vayus, that make up the subtle body or pranamaya kosha. Each of these energies has a specific location in the body and has its own effect on the physical, energetic and mental layers.

If there is a blockage or limitation at the level of the physical body, this can in turn limit the movement of prana in that area and affect the functioning and balance of the vayus, leading to ailments, disease and even mental effects.

Specific yoga asanas are designed to raise and balance the individual prana vayus and remove pranic blockages. Pranayama techniques and mantras go further, creating balance at the level of the mind and emotions.

Learn which prana vayus may be low in your system and how to create balance through targeted yogic tools on this weekend workshop with Flo Fenton.

This workshop allows Yoga Australia members to accrue 5 CPD points per day.

Saturday 7 November

10am-12:30pm

A morning practice focusing on asana, pranayama and mantra to enhance apana vayu, the energy which moves in the lower body. When apana vayu is enhanced, we are grounded and steady, and able to reduce excess weight from accumulating in the system. The body and mind are more able to release and let go of any toxins or blockages.

12:30pm-1:30pm

Lunch – enjoy a break and BYO lunch in the blissful surrounds of the Pine Rivers Yoga garden, followed by a walk through the bushland if desired.

1:30pm-4pm

A short powerpoint presentation in which you will learn about the prana vayus, their locations and effects, and which specific practices we can use to create balance.

Then an afternoon practice focusing on asana, pranayama and visualisation to awaken samana vayu, the energy which helps us to digest and assimilate on all levels.

Sunday 8 November

9am-11:30am

Participate in a morning practice focusing on asana,  pranayama and mantra to enhance prana, udana and vyana vayus. Prana vayu is the energy which moves in the upper body. When prana vayu is enhanced and balanced, we are energetic and vibrant and alert. We have stamina and good health. We are courageous and able to move forward in life with vigour. Udana vayu moves in the area of the head and sense organs and into the extremities, the hands and feet. It gives clarity of sensory perception. Vyana prana moves all around the system like a reserve of energy, topping up and balancing the other vayus.

11:30am-12:30pm

Lunch – enjoy a break and BYO lunch in the blissful surrounds of the Pine Rivers Yoga garden, followed by a walk through the bushland if desired.

12:30pm-3pm

A short powerpoint presentation in which you will learn more about the prana vayus, their locations and effects, and which specific practices we can use to create balance. Time also for questions and discussion.

Then an afternoon practice focusing on using apana vayu to relax, restore and let go.
