Yin Yoga Immersion

Are you missing Yin Yoga or curious to try Yin? Join Cherrie for 2.5 hours of Yin Yoga and meditation practice. During the practice Cherrie will guide you through a series of Yin poses coupled with various breath practices and guided meditations.

Cherrie believes that the slower practice of Yin helps to bring balance to the dominance of dynamic yang yoga styles focusing on the physical body that have risen in popularity in the West.

Yin Yoga is performed when the muscles are cold and relaxed to stress the body’s connective tissue (including the ligaments, tendons, fascia and bones) through long holds of postures, supported by props, allowing students to work to an appropriate edge of sensation.

The benefits of a Yin practice include:

  • A reduction of stress and anxiety by stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system
  • An increase to circulation
  • Improving joint mobility by releasing the fascia and increasing synovial fluid
  • Improving flexibility
  • Improving the flow of chi or prana in the body

Cherrie is a qualified yoga teacher who trained with Ruth Campbell at Pine Rivers Yoga and through the IYTA with Sarah Manning who received her training from the author of The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga, Bernie Clark.

Cherrie first discovered Yin Yoga attending regular classes at Pine Rivers Yoga where she not only experienced a deep sense of release from the stress caused by her corporate job, and a relief to her knee problems caused by running, she was also inspired to commence her training as a yoga teacher, wanting to share with others the many physical and mental benefits of yoga.
