Easy Fixes for Common Problems in Yoga Practice

Do you struggle with certain yoga postures, and feel as if you will never be comfortable in them?

Join yoga master, teacher trainer and yoga therapist Flo Fenton to look at how to introduce more ease into your practice!

Over the weekend, we will look at general practice principles as well as several common postures that often create strain and learn new ways to work with them, promoting comfort in these postures. You will learn:

  • Which commonly practiced yoga asanas can often cause strain and long term instability
  • Teaching cues/alignment which may lead to injury and instability
  • Teaching cues/alignment/prop use which we can use instead, to reduce strain and improve stability in these postures.

This workshop allows Yoga Australia members to accrue 5 CPD points per day.

Saturday 22 May

10am-12:30pm

A flowing morning practice demonstrating ways of teaching common asanas and teaching cues that can help reduce strain.

12:30pm-1:30pm

Lunch – enjoy a break and BYO lunch in the blissful surrounds of the Pine Rivers Yoga garden, followed by a walk through the bushland if desired.

1:30pm-4pm

A powerpoint presentation and practical work to look in detail at certain common postures - why can they be troublesome, and what are some ways that we can make them more ease-ful with use of props, modifications and considered teaching cues? Today we will look at Trikonasana, Setu Bandha Dandasana and Paschimottanasana.

Relaxation and meditation practice to finish if time!

Sunday 23 May

9am-11:30am

A flowing morning practice demonstrating ways of teaching common asanas and teaching cues that can help reduce strain.

11:30am-12:30pm

Lunch – Enjoy a break and BYO lunch in the blissful surrounds of the Pine Rivers Yoga garden, followed by a walk through the woods if desired.

12:30pm-3pm

A powerpoint presentation and practical work to look in detail at certain common postures-why can they be troublesome, and what are some ways that we can make them more ease-ful with use of props, modifications and considered teaching cues? Today we will look at Downward Dog, Chatturanga Dandasana and Janu Sirsasana.

Relaxation and meditation practice to finish if time!
