Introduction to Teaching Yin Yoga

An IYTA weekend workshop: Yin level 1 Teacher Training.

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th October 2017  9.00am - 4.30pm both days

Pine Rivers Yoga Studio is the venue for the IYTA "Introduction to Yin Yoga" weekend workshop conducted by Sarah Manning (IYTA Singapore).

Learn how to safely introduce yin yoga postures into a Hatha class.
Topics covered include;
·      History and philosophy - the foundations of Yin Yoga
·      Anatomy of Yin - the connective tissue story
·      An introduction to meridians, 5 elements, yin and yang concepts
·      What are yin and yang yoga practices?
·      Combining Yin and Yang yoga in a Hatha class
·      Opportunities in Yin yoga for breathing, mindfulness and meditation practices
·      Safety - How to safely stress connective tissue - how much is too far?
·      Safety - Working with students with pre-existing conditions and the real dangers in yin yoga
·      Knee issues
·      Back and neck issues
·      Pregnancy
·      Hip replacement
·      Hypermobility

Workshop Structure

  • 3 hours of on-line lectures (optional)
  • 8 hours of self-study. Workbooks to include reading, practice, and preparation to optimise the training.(optional)
  • 15 hours of weekend contact hours - all yin classes and teaching practice
  • 2-hour open book written assessment (optional)

This weekend workshop offers two options

  1. To attend the two days for a Certification of Attendance - maintaining your CPD hours ($295 IYTA members, $395 non-members)
  2. To also receive the on-line lectures, the pre-study workbook and take the two-hour open book assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion which then counts towards your hours of Level 2 training ($395 IYTA members, $495 non-members)

 

Sarah is a senior IYTA and Yoga Alliance teacher based in Asia since 1995. Sarah’s extensive teaching experience includes Yin Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Yoga for Back Care and Pre and Post Natal. Sarah studied Chinese Reflexology whilst living in China and has trained in Tuina (Chinese Meridian Massage) and Yin Yoga whilst living in Singapore. She leads the IYTA Yin Yoga Training and has led the development and introduction of all of the IYTA Post Graduate courses.
