Yoga for Stress, Depression, Anxiety & Fatigue

Sat 12 May (10am-4:30pm) & Sun 13 May 2018 (9am-3:30pm)

Anxiety, stress and fatigue are epidemic in our society. How can we use yoga to strengthen the system against stress?

Often we are told to rest, and given ‘Restoratives’. However, this approach can lead us deeper into ‘tamas’ the energy of stagnation which maintains disease. The approach of the Krishnamacharya tradition is that we need to go in the opposite direction to that of the disease; we need to make ourselves stronger than/bigger than the stressor (working at the levels of prana, the immune system, the nervous system and the mind).

Therefore, depending on ability, and using modifications to suit the level of the individual student, the morning practice is strong and dynamic with a focus on using posture and breath in specific ways to strengthen the entire system. Then the afternoon/evening practice is given to relax the whole system from the physical and mental stress of that day.
 
This workshop would be useful for all practitioners and teachers alike to enhance both personal practice and teaching skills. For those who are familiar with Flo’s work, this is a great chance to underline some of the most important principles of vinyasa yoga and yoga therapy, as well as introduce a few new tricks and tips!

Saturday 12 May

10am - 1pm
A flowing morning practice to strengthen against stress. Breathing techniques and meditation techniques will also be taught in this session.
 
1pm - 2:30pm
Lunch - Enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch in the blissful surrounds of the Pine Rivers Yoga garden, followed by a walk through the woods if desired.
 
2:30 - 4:30pm
A relaxing afternoon session using props and breathing techniques,  focusing on restoration

Sunday 13 May

9am - Noon
Moving on from yesterdays session, we will progress in all of the basic movements safely and intelligently. Breathing techniques and meditation techniques will also be taught in this session.
 
Noon - 1:30pm
Lunch – Enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch in the blissful surrounds of the Pine Rivers Yoga garden, followed by a walk through the woods if desired.
 
1:30pm - 3:30pm
A relaxing afternoon session using props and breathing techniques,  focusing on restoration
